Flitto Highlights: 2023 Presidential Business Delegation to Vietnam
Last June 22 to 24, Flitto had the honor to be selected as a member of the business delegation to accompany the President’s state visit to Vietnam. Flitto was the only AI language data company out of the 205 domestic companies who joined.
The main schedules of the economic delegation to Hanoi, Vietnam included the Korea-Vietnam Partnership Trade Fair and the Korea-Vietnam Business Forum. Here, Flitto was able to discuss various business opportunities with local software developers, virtual assistant developers, and artificial intelligence companies in Vietnam.
The fervent interest and enthusiasm toward artificial intelligence shown by Vietnamese enterprises in other diverse industries was truly amazing too.
In line with that, here are some highlights from Flitto’s trip to Vietnam.
Day 1 — June 22
Korea-Vietnam Partnership Trade Fair
Early morning on June 22, Flitto CEO Simon Lee and his executive team took off to the Hanoi National Convention Center (NCC) for the Korea-Vietnam Partnership Trade Fair.
During the fair, Flitto conducted business consultations with local companies in Vietnam, focusing on SW development, IT solution development and services, and virtual assistant-related businesses, based on its competitiveness in building language data on an integrated platform.
The competitiveness in terms of data collection, represented by our AI data solution brand Flitto DataLab, particularly attracted much interest among enterprises. Being selected for the National Institute of Korean Language’s “Korean-Foreign Language Parallel Corpus Construction Project” for three consecutive years, Flitto DataLab has already proven its 13M-user platform as a scalable data powerhouse.
As a result, Flitto’s booth was a huge hit. In fact, our consultation booth grabbed much attention from local AI and data-related companies to the extent that our pre-booking had to close ahead of the deadline.
Discussions were held on ways to cooperate in the language data business with local artificial intelligence (AI) companies in Vietnam. Various companies, ranging from artificial intelligence-related businesses to those seeking data collaboration, discussed potential partnerships with Flitto.
Korea-Vietnam Cultural Exchange Night
After the fair, Flitto CEO Simon Lee and executives headed to the South Korea-Vietnam Cultural Exchange Night where South Korean President Yoon Seok Yeol and his 205 business delegates joined.
During the networking session, CEO Lee had the chance to listen closely to the struggles of AI implementation in the large enterprises of Vietnam. In particular, executives from conglomerates engaged in heavy industries, chemicals, and telecommunications expressed their frustration of being unsure where to start, despite their great interest in introducing artificial intelligence to their services. CEO Lee responded with a strong sense of attentiveness while listening to the challenges.
Day 2 — June 23
Korea-Vietnam Business Forum
On June 23, the first main agenda for Flitto’s executive team was the Korea-Vietnam Business Forum.
The forum further strengthened the diplomatic tie between the two countries and their business and government leaders. The collaboration sought to enhance bilateral trade volume by strengthening government-to-government communications, expanding trade finance, improving customs systems, and reinforcing the role of overseas cooperation platforms. As a result, the relation is anticipated to further facilitate and promote cooperation in private sectors.
Executive members and representatives of respected companies in Korea and Vietnam were present at the forum. Here, CEO Lee was able to extend his greetings to the key figures of businesses in Vietnam. Fruitful discussions took place with a commitment to continue seeking mutual advice and engage in concrete discussions for collaboration.
State Dinner
Later that evening, Flitto CEO Simon Lee participated in the state dinner hosted by Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong. The state dinner was a highly-reserved session where only select Korean attendees including ministers, presidential staff and 24 notable business leaders of Korea had the honor to participate.
Flitto Place breezes in Vietnam’s trademark restaurants
There was another agenda for Team Flitto during this business trip: The installation of QR menu translation in some of Vietnam’s most beloved restaurants, powered by Flitto Place.
Flitto Place is a digital multilingual translation service that aims for a communicative place beyond language barriers. With a quick QR code scan, foreign visitors can enjoy seamless translations for restaurant menus, museums, art galleries, tourist attractions, local festivals and more.
Quan An Ngon is a famous restaurant in Hanoi which has been featured multiple times on TV programs. The spot is particularly famous as a must-visit for Korean tourists traveling to Hanoi. With Flitto Place’s QR translation, it will definitely be easier for tourist diners to choose the best dishes for them out of the 50-page menu offered by the restaurant.
Xoi Com, a Michelin-starred restaurant famous for its Vietnamese home-style cuisines, was another place installed with Flitto Place’s QR translation service.
Flitto Place is quickly gaining momentum as its service availability expands across Asia. Through our new installations in Hanoi, Vietnam, we hope to break more language barriers that stand in the way of enjoying delightful food.
Wrapping up…
Flitto’s business trip to Vietnam wrapped up as a great success. It was a great opportunity to feel the enthusiasm among Vietnamese enterprises across various industries toward AI solutions as a tool to bolster their services.
